THE ELECTRONIC EYE FOR RACE WALKING
The most common infringement in race-walking is related to the loss of ground contact (LOGC): currently, during competitions, the assessment of infringements is committed to human observations. A big problem is in its correct identification, since for elité athletes the LOGC lasts few hundredths of seconds.
IART (Inertial Assistant Referee and Trainer) is an inertial-based wearable device for estimation of LOGC and thus, automatic detection of infringements in race-walking. Furthermore, this device implements biomechanical-based indicators customized for elité race-walkers for sports performance analysis.
The IART device can be used by athletes and coaches to support training and by referees to support judging in real competitions.
IART system and algorithms are published in Sensors: see here for more information or write us a message.
